Interns Expose Amway

The "Interns Expose Amway" blog and videos launched recently while I was away and I've not yet talked about it in here. I'm so proud of the interns we have on staff and the work that they did to create this (with some help, of course!).
Over the years I've hired and worked with probably a dozen or so interns, maybe more. Some have gone on to great careers within Amway, others moved on to work for other companies and organizations. I believe that each of them had a great experience as an intern in our company because their internships were not about copying and filing and administrative support. There's too much real work to do!
When we hired Bethany last year, it was with the express purpose of having her create content that showed Amway from the eyes of an intern. When you join this company, everything is brand new and it takes awhile to learn all of the things that make this company great. That was Bethany's task: Learn this company and share with others on the outside what you find out. Let's just say that there's no lack of content for the "Interns Expose Amway" video series.
And there are so many areas within the company to learn about, so having more interns share their experiences through the Interns Expose Amway blog is simply outstanding. Pretty soon, a whole new crop of interns will join the company for the summer and there will be whole new areas of the company to expose. You see, the more you find out about who we are, what we do, how we operate, the more you'll come to appreciate everything Amway Global stands for.
When I joined Amway more than 17 years ago, I was the junior person on the PR staff but I did know a little about the company and its brands, since I'd covered the company as a reporter for a few years and had an aunt and uncle in the business since the 1960s (and still today, in their 80s). That said, there is no better way to learn about all aspects of a company than to be in a public relations role.
As a PR professional, you learn about what is great about a company, because that's what you look to promote. You also learn about what issues a company faces so that you can effectively communicate the company's position. Over the years, you eventually come into contact with just about every area of the company. From manufacturing and customer service to marketing and sales to finance and distribution to legal and rules, there aren't many areas of the company that aren't at some point exposed to the light of media attention. And, as a rule, the PR person generally tries to fully understand the story before the media person does.
Now, with our interns bringing their various areas to light in the Opportunity Zone, I hope all of you will learn even more about what makes this a great company and a great business featuring great products and great support from great people. OK, that's a lot of "greats" for one sentence. What else would you expect from a PR person? :-)
P.S. But it's true. They're all great. You'll see. Keep checking in on Interns Expose Amway and you'll see!
